Toronto Paramedic Services lack enough EMS crew

Toronto Paramedic Services delay reaching the patients to emergency departments. There aren’t enough ambulances in the city because of the absent emergency crew including the fired ones. Hospitals lack enough staff because of the Omicron variant.

Low priority emergency calls may experience more waiting time now. The City of Toronto and their participating hospitals are working hard with paramedic supervisors to recover the insufficient EMS staff. There were 115 ambulances available in the service on January 13 in the city. 17.1 percent of EMS crew have been absent because of Cov-19 isolation.
